of our most treacherous travel this morning. we'll have more coming up in the next 2 1/2 hours. >> thank you very much. >>. >> it is 4:32. the san jose paramedic shot in the head in a drive-by has died. this rng month, the hunt continues for the gunman. quinn boyer was attacked back on tuesday morning after visiting his father's home in oakland when boyer stopped at the intersection of keller and hanson drive. a gunman in another car shot him. boyer hit the gas pedal, propelling his car over the median and into a nearby ravine. >> he is an amazing patient caregiver who is a great paramedic. he was loved by everybody here at the company. boyer worked for the santa clara ambulance company for two years. investigators say it does not appear if it was a robbery or attempted carjacking or even possibly road rage. there have been no arrests and oakland police are asking for your help in capturing boyer's

killer. a memorial concert being held for the victims of the mass shooting at oakland's university. a total of seven people were killed during a shooting rampage back in april. that suspect, a nursing student at the school, is undergoing psychiatric treatment for schizophrenia. tomorrow's memorial concert will be at st. paul's episcopal church at 7:00 a.m. a second concert is planned for next weekend in sacramento. friends of a 16-year-old musician killed by a train last month will honor his memory e was clipped by a train as he walked home near the tracks last month. his family says he was a talented musician and had performed at several local cafes. they will hold a memorial and fund-raiser where he was a junior. donations from tonight's event will help offset funeral costs. >> a pleasanton preschool came under fire after a teacher was accused of tying up a toddler is

in the spotlight. authorities telling the contra costa times they have received reports of another incident at center point christian preschool this time. focusing on a teacher that pinched a young boy. the school says the teacher named in that complaint no longer works at that school. just last month if you recall, it was closed down for several days of staff training after it was revealed a teacher at that school tied up a toddler's hands with hands and feet for tape because the toddler refused to take a nap. >> he takes up the issue of housing after an earlier proposal drew heavy criticism from neighbors. >> residents complained the original plan presented in january was too clustered in their neighborhoods and needed to be spread across town. >> they are required to zone a certain number of areas for affordable housing. while zoinining is required,

building the housing is not. >> bay area community colleges doing something they haven't had an opportunity to do for a long time is add more classes. several community classes are boosting that thanks in part to the funding. >> san jose's evergreen valley college. several other schools adding dozens more classes. schools, they had to cut summer classes during the recession. administrators, they say things are finally starting to turn around. thousands of happy fans getting ready to welcome back the world champions. the at&t park sold out for the giants home opener. very similar to this one, where the team raised the world series flag and showed off that championship trophy. today's game starts at 1:35. that celebration will continue tomorrow when the giants hand out a first round of bobbleheads. 40,000 fans will get a buster

posey bobblehead. barry zito and ryan will be handed out later this season to add to your collection. posey is expected to be around for many years to come. of course, last week, he signed that multi-year extension with the giants for a pretty penny. >> a good-looking bobblehead to hold some of the awards he has bonn. the guy has been on fire. giants looking great. hopefully, good weather. christina loren is going to check it out. it is a big day across the bay area as the giants get back at it at at&t park. let's talk about what we are expecting this morning. a lot of people will be funneling into the city. we do have thick fog to get through. mostly between 7:00 and 9:00. a little drizzle associated with the heavier low clouds. take it easy. by noon, we'll see partly cloudy conditions. by 4:00 p.m., we will get a little shower activity north of the golden gate bridge, not expecting much. mostly at the north end. continue that futurecast as we get into your saturday. we have our next chance for

rain. slight chance as we head through tomorrow morning. only in the south bay, we will see a little bit of activity from san francisco north all wait to santa rosa. keep that in mind. we are going to see a nice second half of your saturday. you can get outdoors before our next chance for rain comes into the mix at 9:00 a.m. on sunday. watch out for a few light showers. in the morning hours, mostly along the peninsula at 11:00 p.m. on sunday. a tricky forecast. it does look like some of that heavier moisture, that deep green. that yellow will come into the bay area as we head through the overnight hours into early monday. we are going to clear out just in time for the kickoff of next week. we have a major warm wup. 68 in livermore. 68 in san jose. around 61 in san francisco. as we head to the next couple of days, temperatures are going to stay steady. those clouds increase. our pattern stays unsettled. monday, tuesday, wednesday, we get this nice ridge of high pressure. that's going to boost our numbers towards levels we have

not yet seen this year. the warmest air of the season so far on the way as we head through next week. right now, back to you. thanks, christina. fog definitely an issue. specially in the north bay. the golden gate bridge, lots of dense fog. keep the headlights on. you may have to use those windshield wipers as well. we do have an accident on 80 eastbound. that's headed out of our viewing area area. you want to make sure you give caution to yourself as you head that way. we also have another accident that just happened in dublin on 580 westbound at valley avenue. very typical route this morning. you want to make sure you allow a little extra time because of that fog that's out there this morning. otherwise, no major accidents to report as of yet. 4:39. well, some good news for local artists. they now have a new place to show off all of their work in oakland this afternoon. the city opening up its new

uptown art park. this was built over an old sears parking lot near the corner of telegraph avenue and 19th street. this marks the very first outdoor sculpture park. they are having a grand opening celebration taking place tonight starting at 6:30. brides against breast cancer is bringing its national tour of gowns to santa clara. it is a charity group that sells wedding gowns new and used at discount prices. proceeds go to support cancer patients and their families. crews will set up dozens of dress recs at the hyatt regency. tomorrow, the sale goes on. tickets are required to get into the event. you can rn you can register at the bridesagainstbreastcancer website. >> they have specific ideas about apple's new headquarters and what they would look like.

welcome back, everyone. jon and i were just talking about it. rolling stones. they will be coming to this place. hp pavilion. won't they light that place up. they are set to make $3 million, $4 million a venue. they are lock legends. 4:43. new details about plans for apple's new cupertino headquarters. apple's counsel-founder had very specific visions in mind. the chronicle's business insider says he wanted the building to look polished with no scenes or gaps or paint brush strokes visible inside. the wood must be maple and hardwood from the center of the tree. the glass around the building will be produced in germany and shipped here. the bathrooms and cubicles will also be built offsite and chipped in. the new headquarters nicknamed the spaceship will reportedly cost $5 billion, up from the initial estimate of $3 billion.

>> that is a pretty penny. >> monthly jobs numbers due out in less than an hour. it seems like investor rs waiting until then before they decide whether to buy or sell today. brian shactman live at cnbc world headquarters and so much more. good morning. so much more. thank you very much. good morning, everybody. futures are pretty weak right now ahead of that big report of the day. that jobs report from march. they are looking for another month of steady hiring with forecasts calling for companies to have added 200,000 jobs. employment rates seen holding steady at 7.7%. we get data on the trade deficit and consumer credit. dout was u president obama's budget plan which will be released reportedly cut the deficit by $1.8 trillion over the next ten years. it says it includes cuts to social security and medicare

using a new med tritric to calc cost of living. the wall street journal reports the president's budget includes a 28% limit on tax breaks for the wealthiest americans. i can't get my head off the apple's headquarters. can't wait to see that. >> that's going to be sharp. >> on to the breaking news. just a wild car chase through the streets of san francisco as police try and catch the driver of a stolen cab. "today in the bay's" arturo santiago is live where it all ended. officers we are being told still looking for the driver. >> reporter: yeah, jon. this is the end of the line where the cab ended up in between a couple of san francisco police department police cruisers. they are right now going through that cab looking for any kind of clues or evidence. let's take you to some actual video of the pursuit. this all started just after 2:00 this morning in the south of market area. san francisco police located that stolen cab.

the driver took off, leading officers on a short chase through surface streets. the suspect then got on southbound highway 280 and the california highway patrol took over the chase and speeds reached 100 miles an hour. the driver of the stolen cab eventually ended up on the san francisco state university campus where he jumped out of the cab while it was still moving and still in drive and took off on foot and the cab rolled into a metal pole, which is one of those traffic barriers. the police have not been able to find the suspect. the stolen cab is here on campus as investigators are looking for clues. you can see the cab is an suv type vehicle and, again, we've got a couple of police cruisers still on scene as well as they are going through the cab and looking at it for any clues or evidence. that's the latest. for now, i'm live at san francisco state university, "today in the bay." 4:47.

new this morning. another person has died because of a new bird flu outbreak in china. so far, six people have died since the new strain was discovered last sunday at a shanghai market. authorities have since slaughtered all poultry. where the virus was detected in pigeons being sold for meat. health officials think people are contracting that virus through direct contact with infected foul. it says there has been no evidence avian bird flu spreads easily through people. dozens are dead following a building collapse in mumbai, india. this happened in what indian police say was an illegal construction site. most that died were construction workers who were staying in the building. the cause of the collapse under investigation. workers had been adding floors prior to this disaster. police have arrested the builder and an associate. the investigation continues this morning on a deadly

shootout inside a mississippi police station. the shooting happened last night at the jackson, mississippi, police headquarters while a detective was questioning a suspect. investigators say a fight broke out and then shots were fired. both the detective and suspect were killed. investigators say they were both shot several times. the suspect was questioned on a separate deadly shooting case. there were warning signs before the deadly shooting. they show james holmes, a psychologist at the university of colorado, boulder, told campus police holmes had homicidal thoughts. the documents revealed an arsenal of weapons and several computers were taken from his home. he received a number of shipments from his online ammunition company. holmes is said to be tried in february of next year.

new this morning, the rainy weather bringing some unusual sites to northern california. a funnel cloud spotted near the town of cording just north of chico. a tornado warning was issued for the area but there were no reports of any twisters actually touching down. that's close enough. >> 4:49. how about a friendly wager for the final four. we'll tell you what the mayor of berkeley will get to win the cal women's game? we're predicting that. a community comes together to help a mother and her newborn baby. hundreds of people rushed out to a remote people of the amazon in the middle of the night. >> we have dense fog forming this morning. we are going to get you up to speed and out the door. i'm anthony slaughter in for mike inouye tracking your roads. we are going to check the area bridges and let you know how the fog looks outside coming up after this.

welcome back, everybody, on a friday morning. we take you live for a live look at washington, d.c. president obama not there. he is in town right now. traveling fresh off a trip from out here in the bay area where he is taking heat for comments about california's attorney general. we'll tell you about that coming up in a few moments and let you know what the president said that caught a few people's attention in the wrong way. 4:53. it has become a classic. we know now when fans of the show will finally get to see

some brand new episodes. los gatos, netflix, 15 new episodes of that comedy series will be posted. they will all be posted at the very same time. you can have a viewing weekend on may 26th. the entire cast will be in all these episodes including big-time star, jason baitman. the show was canceled by fox back in 2006 after three seasons because of low ratings. fans cannot rate. >> cal women are getting ready for this sunday's final four show down against louisville. berkeley mayor, tom bates. he bet louisville mayor ten bottles of wine that cal will win. in turn, fisher has put ten bottles of kentucky bourbon on the line. >> either way, it is going to be a party. >> bates is confident the bears will win. he says in a statement, i can already taste the bourbon now.

in the middle of the amazon rain forest. the mother had complications during birth and needed immediate medical attention. the owner of a cessna offered to fly the pair. could it, because the runway didn't have light. a local radio station put out a call for help. less than 30 minutes later, hundreds of people arrived to light up the runway. isn't that amazing. the plane was able to take off safely. that is a community. >> i was about to say. everybody gathering together for a wonderful cause. a very happy ending. glad to hear that. good stuff. 4:55. we're following breaking news this rng mont this morning. the hunt is on for a driver who led police on a chase. could relieve at the pump be on the way? new details about the chevron refinery that's been partially shut down since the fire in august. >> your world champion giants, f finally back home to start their season. live at at&t park with what you

"today in the bay's" arturo santiago is live where it all ended. officers still looking for that driver.

we are standing at the end of the line where the police chase ended. a few minutes ago, police drove that stolen cab away and cleared the scene. we are just off of holloway on the campus of san francisco state university. we do have actual video of the pursuit. we can show that to you now. it's all started just after 2:00 this morning. near the south of market area san francisco police found this stolen cab. the driver took off leading officers on a short chase through surface streets in the city. the suspect then got on southbound highway 280 and the california highway patrol took over the chase which speeds reached about 100 miles an hour. the driver of the stolen cab eventually ended up on the campus of san francisco state university where he actually jumped out of the cab while it was still in drive and still moving and then he took off on foot and the cab rolled into a metal pole which is a traffic barrier. >> see this taxi cab roll up and this guy jumps out of it even before it stops and slams into a parking post here.

soon enough, a cop pulls up behind him. he jumps out and they both start running. >> reporter: police are still looking for the suspect. he is still at-large. the stolen cab again was just driven away by police as they cleared the scene here on the campus. we're live at san francisco state university. i'm arturo santiago, "today in the bay." we have a follow-up for you right now. another delay in the plea hearing for the man accused of kidnapping and killing morgan hill teenager, sierra lamar. a technical problem forcing the judge to grant the defense team a two-week delay. lawyers say they had troubles with dozens of photo discs and interview videos given to them by prosecutors. he has been in jail for 11 months but has still not been able to enter a plea in this murder case. yet another follow-up to tell you about. a state judge must decide whether to revoke the license of the bar pilot that side swiped a bay bridge earlier this
